The Cheshire Cat
The Cheshire Cat is a fictional character created by Lewis Carroll in his famous book " Alice in Wonderland " has the ability to appear and disappear at will , entertaining Alice paradoxical and philosophical conversations .
Origin of The Cheshire Cat :
Some scholars argue that Carroll was inspired to create the Cheshire Cat , a sculpture located at the Church of Crofton -Tees , a town in the northeast of England .
Others think that the cat is based on a gargoyle carved into a pillar of St Nicolas Church Crangleigh .
Also attribute it to a sculpture in the tower of St. Wilfrid 's Church, Grappenhall , Warrington, Cheshire County .
Cats in the yard:
Another possible origin is that Carroll was inspired by cats living in Port Chester. In fact, until 1979, a monument to eregía Cheshire Cat, on the bank of the river Dee , which was previously a warehouse of cheeses.
It was said that the cats sitting on the pier were the happiest in the kingdom , since mice fed on arriving on boats that distributed the cheese , hence the big smile.
The monument was destroyed when the house was demolished Copfield , located next to the old warehouse, 1979 .
